Privacy & Face Recognition
One Jaipuria SDP 2026 — Dehradun & Mussoorie
What we collect
- Your name, email, campus, and avatar (from sign-in).
- Photos uploaded by official event photographers.
- Optional: a selfie used to enable automatic photo tagging.
How face recognition works
If you opt in, your selfie is sent to AWS Rekognition (Mumbai region, ap-south-1) which converts your face into a mathematical face print (a vector of numbers). AWS does not store the original selfie — only the face print, indexed under your user ID inside a private collection used solely for this event.
When new event photos are uploaded, we ask Rekognition to compare each photo against the collection. Matches above 90% similarity are tagged on your My Photos page.
Your choices
- You can decline face recognition entirely and still use the gallery.
- You can manually tag yourself in any photo.
- You can withdraw consent any time from your dashboard. We will delete your face print from AWS and remove any auto-generated tags.
Retention
- Face prints and the entire AWS collection will be deleted within 30 days after the event.
- Event photos remain on the site for the duration of the program.
Who can see what
- All signed-in faculty can browse the gallery.
- Only you can see "Photos of me" tags on your dashboard.
- Photos and tags are never shared with third parties beyond AWS Rekognition.
